Micon International Limited welcomes Peter Szkilnyk, P.Eng, onboard as Principal Mining Engineer. 

Peter is a Mining Engineer and seasoned manager with over 15 years’ experience in mine design, ore reserves and LoM scheduling. At Micon, Peter is leading the mining practise for Underground and Open Pit projects.

Peter’s career blends frontline operational experience with high-level corporate and consulting roles across the mining value chain. He began his career in operations with Xstrata Nickel and Barrick Gold, before moving into consulting with Hatch. After completing his MBA in 2018, he held senior roles in corporate technical services at Glencore Zinc, Kirkland Lake Gold / Agnico Eagle Mines, and Centerra Gold..

His core expertise includes strategic mine planning, economic modelling, and long-range business planning. Peter has supported numerous early-stage studies (Scoping through Feasibility), NI 43-101 and JORC Technical Reports, and technical due diligence mandates. He brings a multidisciplinary perspective to project development, combining hands-on engineering experience with economic and strategic insight.

Peter holds a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University (2007) and an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University (2018). He has worked in a wide range of jurisdictions including Canada, the United States, Mexico, Peru and Bolivia, across commodities including base metals, gold, and industrial minerals.

Peter is a Competent/Qualified person under the JORC Code (2012) and NI 43-101.
